Hilton has once again extended the “Like A Member” dining discount for Asia Pacific region. The offer was previously planned to end on 31 December 2023, but this has now been extended to 30 June 2024 instead per the new T&Cs. This is the third extension of the “Like A Member” offer. The offer had originally been planned to expire at end 2022, then extended to 30 June 2023, then extended a second time to 31 December 2023, and now further extended. I previously wrote about that second extension here.

This great news for Hilton Honors members only, but membership is free, so it’s easy to take advantage of the offer. The discount is applicable at most Hilton-operated F&B venues in hotels throughout Asia Pacific but of course certain exclusions apply. Besides the discounts, non-staying guests can also earn 500 points per transaction with minimum USD25 spend.

What is the “Like A Member” dining offer?

The benefits

Hilton Honors members can take advantage of a discount on their dining bill, which varies depending on tier:

  • Hilton Honors Base & Silver members receive 10% off
  • Hilton Honors Gold & Diamond members receive 25% off

As a Diamond, I’ve been able to get my 25% discount on several occasions, and it does translate to a fair bit of savings. Of course, if there’s credit card dining offers that provide more discount, by all means utilise those instead.

On top of the discount, non-staying members, as well as guest on ineligible stays (e.g. booked through an OTA) can earn 500 points with a minimum spend of USD25, excluding discount and taxes. Bonus points for non-staying guests may take 4-6 weeks to be posted. In my experience it’s usually been a bit faster, but I imagine it’s probably dependent on how efficient that particular hotel is. For staying guests, the bill can be charged to the room account as normal for points earning.

The exclusions

There’s a fair bit of exclusions, which are detailed in the T&Cs below:

Hotel and restaurant exclusions (Credit: Hilton)

The exclusions include:

  • All outlets in French Polynesia, Maldives and Hampton hotels in China
  • F&B outlets managed by Hilton at selected hotels such as the Hilton Perth; Hilton Queenstown; Hilton Cairns; DoubleTrees in Alice Springs, Cairns, Darwin, Noumea, Wellington, Queenstown and many others
  • F&B outlets not managed by Hilton, including Chattterbox and Shinsen Hanten at Hilton Singapore Orchard; Glass Brasseries in Hilton Sydney; The House Bar, Taige, Tenshin, Seoul Restaurant and Park90 at Conrad Singapore Orchard; plus others

The original version of the T&Cs had Osteria Mozza at Hilton Singapore Orchard specifically listed as excluded, but it was removed from during the previous extension (to 31 December 2023). The Osteria Mozza page on the Hilton Singapore Orchard’s website also has a section mentioning Like A Member, so it appears Like A Member now applies there as well.

Besides the outlet exclusions, blackout dates may also apply. I have to admit I didn’t quite read this part, and found out when I rather stupidly visited Manhattan on a public holiday. The staff informed me that the discount doesn’t apply on eve of public holidays, and if I heard correctly, on the day after public holidays as well. Likewise, I’ll be visiting Tea Lounge on 30 December, where they will be serving a special New Year long weekend menu. This special menu is specifically excluded from the Dine Like A Member discount as per the online booking confirmation email.

Beware if you have hotel credits

The T&Cs also vaguely make reference to the discount not stacking with other promotions and offers. It’s not explicitly stated as such, but in my experience – and that of many other members – the discount does not stack with Impresario/ Virtuoso/ Amex FHR hotel credits. Some members don’t like this, personally it doesn’t bother me too much as long as the hotel applies everything correctly. Most hotels I’ve stayed at on Impresario or Virtuoso rates have been good at noting I’ve got credits to use and billing at full price. The only exception was the Conrad Osaka, which resulted in a messy bill at checkout.

Conclusion

Hilton has again extended the “Like A Member” dining discount applicable for the Asia Pacific region, with the new end date now 30 June 2024. The discounts are applicable for Hilton Honors members only, but membership is free to sign up, so there’s no reason not to take advantage of the offers. I’ve personally found the discount useful, and I’m definitely going to be utilising it more between now and end of the year. I guess I’ll be making more visits to Manhattan!
